I strongly agree with chessdude67 and TheBearHHH you can build muscle and lose body fat at the same time. To do it you will have eat every 2-3 hours eat protein 1-1.5 g per pound in body weight eat slow burning carbs apart from the evening and decrease your fat intake. Then in the gym do 4 sets of 8-12 reps and do cardio 30-45 minutes after your weight training or days when you are off the gym. Believe me I spoke to many Bodybuilders and they all say it can be done.

I think he is confusing “losing weight” with “burning fat.”

The problem you run into is when you are focusing on building muscle and intaking all those calories, if you are watching your diet you will store more fat. This is because that fat is needed to help sustain the amount of muscle on your body. Because muscle is the most taxing part of your body, it is the first to go when you stop the workouts.

with fat loss a calorie defecit of 500 a day will result in 1-2 ponds lost a week, thats if u do cardio at least 3 times a week. Losing 3+ a week, ur body will start eating its on muscle as an energy resource.

i think you missed the point. you’re not totally wrong (you spelled protein wrong), but hes saying it makes your life easier to concentrate on one goal b4 you go to the next (the build muscle first or lose weight first). caloric deficit is needed to lose weight and caloric gain is needed to provide enough energy to work harder on building that muscle.

Muscles aren’t built by calories, they are built by protenes. You certainly do NOT need a caloric surplus to gain muscles, because the body will just convert excess calories in to fat and store it.
And YES you can build muscles AND loose fat at the same time.

There are different hand tools that can be used to measure body fat. I went to Gold’s Gym and had one of the trainers do it for me. He measured the fat thickness on my triceps, behind me and under my arm (lat), and my belly with one end of the tool in my belly button and the other side clasped onto the other end of my slighly pulled belly. Also somehow they have an automatic body fat reader by holding your arms out and pressing your thumbs on some sensors.
