I never said …
I never said anything about “millions of years of evolution.” I was referring to Sean’s implication that staying up late is only a recent phenomenon that began with the invention of the light bulb, and continued into our era of nightclubs and late-night TV shows. There’s plenty of evidence showing that humans have been “night owls” for LONG before then.
because a few …
because a few people staying up at night for centuries is not going to have any effect on millions of years of evolution
what u said just annoyed me because it was complete stupidity, just use ur head
Gee, it’s so nice …
Gee, it’s so nice to get such a helpful reply to a question based on an honest observation.
Sean is implying in the video that our genes are “wired” based on the way ancient people behaved. I just made a statement about how there’s plenty of evidence showing that ancient people must have been staying up late in order to make observations about the night sky, which has been passed down for centuries. That doesn’t make me a moron. Please give a constructive reply or none at all.

I doubt it. I would say it wasn’t thought of yet. But, the way they lived was some sort of body building. They were strong.
If ancient people …
If ancient people always slept at night, then how do you explain the vast amount of mythology dealing with the Moon, stars, planets and other celestial phenomena? Obviously some people must have been staying awake at night in order to observe these things.

I’m not a cave …
I’m not a cave person brother, that’s the europeans not us. Peace.
jwang, there have …
jwang, there have been several studies done to show that depriving your body of it’s natural circadian rhythm (basically sleeping from dusk to dawn) can cause or aggravate depression, and depression in and of itself can shorten lifespan (I suspect it all has to do with sunlight and vitamin D). Still, I know many many night owls who prefer third-shift work and actually thrive with their circadian rhythm in reverse (myself included).
Still, I suffer …
Still, I suffer from mad-dog depression and I have a sleep cycle very similar to jreily: I usually go to sleep around 4 am and wake up around 8 am, feeling more refreshed than if I had gone to bed at 10 pm and gotten up at 6 or even 8 am. Not sure what’s up with that and how depression/nutrition fits in. I wonder if metabolic typing has an ociation with “circadian typing” or something of that sort, cuz I sure do seem to do better at night.

Backshift = …
Backshift = Graveyard shift.
People who work nights most of the time tend to live shorter lives because it throws their bodies out of wack over the long term. Doing this for a few years may not do much, but the folks who spend 20 years working nights and sleeping days tend to have higher disease rates and lower overall health.
lol what are you …
lol what are you talking about? Who said anything about back-to-back shifts? I was only talking about the time of the day to sleep. Please read my comment again. thanks.
Sorry, but people …
Sorry, but people who spend most of their lives working back shifts tend to die younger. Do a little searching and you can find the studies that have proven this.
We were never meant to be up all night.
